Rice Krispie Treats

I'm totally adding this post because of peer pressure (you know who you are). It rightfully should be entitled the Rice Krispie Treat Disaster. I want you all to know that I'm completely embarrassed to have been taken in by a silly TV commercial. It painted the whole picture quite nicely...happy Mom, two loving wonderful children who were ecstatic over making Rice Krispie Treats together. So, imagine three days later when not-so-happy Mom and two grumpy kids are left alone for an entire evening. I'm thinking - YES! Rice Krispie treats are exactly what we need tonight. This is going to change our whole evening. We will have a family (minus Dad) activity that will bring us all to a happier place.

Then the Reality Witch hit. Battle #1 didn't even start at making treats...it began at dinner time. "Kiersley, you have to eat your chicken before we can make a treat..." Mental note to self: next time it would just be easier not to tell her about making treats until AFTER she's eaten her dinner. So about an hour later, after the chicken is mostly gone, Battle #2 hits...K wants the spoon that Benji has. Sheesh. Once that's sorted out, B is upset because the marshmellows go into the microwave. And then as both children are trying to help, the Rice Krispies got spilled everwhere. And boy, Rice Krispies definitely have some 'cruising' abilities. Imagine both children on top of the table madly trying to lick up as many Rice Krispies as possible. That's when both kids ended up in time out. It was really more for my sanity than theirs.

So, earth shattering conclusion: don't ever believe a highly paid marketing team's take on happiness through Rice Krispie Treats.

  3. It's nice to know there is someone out there who suffers the same motherhood frustrations. I'm not alone! I can't believe someone would pressure you into blogging that.... who would do that?! =)
