I was emotionally distraught that we never got around to doing a gingerbread house over Christmas. So I'm sure you can imagine my absolute delight when I saw these Easter Bunny houses for sale at Walmart. $10 is such a small price to pay for happiness! So I grabbed two houses, sat down with Benji to decorate one and realized that I have issues if I think a gingerbread house is going to bring me happiness. Here's the ensuing mess...
After I made the icing and tried to use it I realized that I didn't put enough powdered sugar in and the frosting was too runny. So I had to take the blobby mess out of the icing bag and put it back into the mixer (which I had to wash, by the way). Then I put in too much sugar and when I tried to use the new icing bag, it exploded. All the while, little Benji Bear was trying to sneak pieces of candy and then laughing uproariously when I caught him. But nonetheless, I persevered. Happiness, right? That's what I'm going for here...
So, I eventually got one bag of yellow frosting and one bag of pink frosting. Everything was in working order. But by then I was too exhausted to be interested in decorating our little house. And it took me getting to that point before it occurred to me...I really just don't like cake decorating. I like the IDEA of doing it because it's so creative and cute. But now that I realise the truth of the matter, I doubt you'll see me doing this ever again!
