It's been one week since I started this challenge. The challenge consists of nutritional goals, aerobic excercise goals and strength training. It has been GREAT! I've followed the nutrition and aerobic parts 100%. When it came to strength training, I didn't plan to use this particular method so I didn't start on it at first. I learned, however, that it would be better to follow the program completely. So I bought a very inexpensive used home gym and grabbed three different sizes of canned soup and started following this weight program.
I have really enjoyed this eating plan. You eat a carb and protein together at six small meals and snacks, and add vegies with two of these meals. So, for example if you want to eat a dessert, you add protein powder to pudding to get your carb and protien together. Every week there's a "free day" when you can eat anything you want. So yesterday was my first free day. In the book, Bill Phillips says that your free day quickly becomes self regulating. And I can tell you from experience - it's true!!! Let me tell you about my eating yesterday. I woke up and ate Cream of Wheat (with NO protien powder). Then at lunch I ate a hamburger from Red Robin. Yum!!! During the afternoon I ate one of my favorite candy bars (Idaho Spud). In the evening I sampled several different soups and Thai food. Then for my evening snack I ate ice cream from Dairy Queen.
I was so SICK all night. My body ached, my muscles felt yucky. My tummy groaned and complained. I won't do THAT again! I think I will probably be more prone to take a "free meal" rather than a whole day.
What really amazes me, though, is that despite ALL the food I've eaten the last week (and it has been a lot!) I've still lost 9, yes NINE pounds. Sure, there's probably a lot of water wieght in those pounds, but I don't think it's all water wieght because my clothes are looser. Already I can feel and see a difference. Hurray!!!
