Our kids are a the perfect age for Christmas. It's become a magical time full of wonder and excitement.
On the evening of the 23rd Ben and I decided that we would open gifts the next morning because we didn't want to take them to the coast with us. So the kids and I made cookies for Santa and set out the plate and cup of milk. Then we put them to bed and got Thomas the Train set up. (I love garge sales!) The kids were definitely awake and very curious as to what was happening. And Ben had gotten me a surprise gift which I really wanted to open (I'm not the poster child for patience). So around 9 o'clock, I said: "why don't we just get the kids up and open our gifts now?" Ben looked at me like I was crazy. Then he started to grin and said, "Whatever you want, honey." So that's what we did. I went in and lead the kids out into the tv room where they saw Thomas. And wow, Benji was enthralled. He wouldn't leave Thomas's side at all. He acted like Thomas was part of him now. When it was bedtime, he even had to give Thomas a kiss goodnight.
Our plan had been to give Thomas to both K and B, but K wasn't very interested. So I was glad I had wrapped up a few other things like coloring books and some cookies for her. They were both very happy with how things transpired. And so was I.
