Trip Part 2 Tillamook

Visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory was fun! We learned a lot about dairy farms and the history of Tillamook. Apparently a long, long time ago the farmers learned that the Oregon coast was a good place to raise cows. Because of the rainfall there is a constant supply of grass for the cows to eat. And speaking of eating, apparently cows graze six hours a day and chew their cud six hours a day. Wow! In fact, I know lots of interesting yet useless facts about cows now!

At the factory we got to see huge blocks of cheese cut and packaged into small 1 and 2 pound size packages. It must be extremely boring to be a line worker. I can't imagine doing such repetitive work (at least each diaper I change is a little different, right?).

We also got to sample different types of cheese, my favorite is definitely the cheese curds - YUM! And we also treated ourselves to some Tillamook ice cream. YUM!

We then jumped back into the car to head for Cannon Beach our temporary home.
